ER Arts occupied approximately 5000 square feet on the first floor of the Julius Horton Building in 2004. Justin Beard was the director and established a fantastic year of theater, exhibits, events and classes with little assistance. In late 2004 the City of Seattle informed us that the THEATER addition was not permitted for the purpose of a theater so we were forced to lease the space. In 2005 we established a relationship with Chad McMurray, owner of Art in Music. Chad now operates in this space as the MIX and uses the theater space as a music recording studio. Before and after enclosure of exterior loading dock. Strike Anywhere Productions and other small theater companies performed in the space in 2004 and received excellent reviews. Justin Beard served as director of Edward Reed Arts Organization and developed programs for artist instructed classes for the public, gallery exhibits, private events and original theater. Scott Hanson donated the labor and his vast experience as a General Contractors to build the addition of the theater space.

| The floorplan for upstairs live & work studios shows how spaces were converted as needed by artists. The area on the bottom floorplan has the space previously used by Edward Reed Arts Organization for theater, gallery and other programs such as teaching, meetings and events. After 2005 ER arts remained only in the small area indentified on the plan. Chad McMurray occupies the space currently operating the MIX. |
